FM Sitharaman’s statement for the Agri economic relief package had promised reforms in Agri laws to provide barrier free inter-state trade and e-trading of agricultural produce, well, the verdict is out-
The Cabinet has approved the amendments to the Essential Commodities Act, which largely de-regulates the heavily regulated, “farmers” business. The amendment has eliminated the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee.
- Barrier free Agri trade with The Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020;
- The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Ordinance, 2020 empowers farmers to engage with processors, aggregators, large retailers, exporters;
- Deregulated commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseed, onions & pulses;
- Ordinance which allows farmers to engage with processors, aggregators, large retailers and exporters.
This surely classifies for a Reform! Hope One India One Agricultural Market, takes it to irreversible implementation.
Thank you #governmentofindia
